Expert: Most Russians use default search on phones, want choice
MOSCOW, Jun 28 (PRIME) -- The majority of Russians use the search system installed by default, but they want to have a choice, according to a study conducted by news and research agency TelecomDaily and seen by PRIME on Monday.
The research showed, “60% of the respondents do not change the search system installed on smartphones by default. 63% noted that the choice of search is necessary, but over a half of them, 52%, do not know how to do it.”
The agency’s head Denis Kuskov said the option to choose a search system, which will appear on iOS devices, may positively influence the market development both for users and developers of competing search systems and browsers.
According to the Digital Development Ministry’s ruling, the smartphones, Smart TV sets, computers, and laptops sold in the country from Thursday must have a preinstalled local search system by default.
